Unplanned Plans

Oh no! I almost completely let my posting fall by the wayside these past few weeks. This thing called life kind of got in the way of making (have you heard of this happening before, anyone??)...

Sarcasm aside, I've been busy busy busy making things for my Etsy shop and for Art Star Craft Bazaar at the end of the month. I wanted to take some time and refocus on art-making instead of craft-making lately so I have been reworking and fiddling around in my sketchbook/on random book pages a lot lately. Here's my latest, india ink on found book page...

Fused Plastic!

Last summer, I found this video on how to make fused plastic using those oh-so-pesky plastic shopping bags! one important point that I think this video leaves out is that fusing the plastic bags emits a bunch of stinky and presumably toxic fumes! I've been stowing away a ton of more interestingly printed bags all winter and was excited to have time this past Thursday to set up shop outside on my patio and put my iron to work...

it's perfect material to make covers for journals and blank books, of course!

Mixed Paper Madness!

If there's one art supply that I lust over the most - it is, hands down, PAPER. I just LOVE paper and consequently have quite the collection of random papers. I had been thinking for a while about mixed paper journals and came up with these, which I've made over the past few days.
