Bike!

Ok, so this is maybe stretching the definition of "something I made" just a little, but I've been fighting a cold for the past couple of days and haven't gotten much done. So I'm posting instead about the cool adult education bike repair class I took tonight at Philly's own Neighborhood Bike Works, because it was super awesome and totally in the general realm of the idea of making things. Tonight I learned how to patch an inner tube/fix a flat tire. If you're looking to learn more about bikes and bike repair, NBW is your place! Their repair classes go for 4 weeks, and they also have open repair sessions where people will help you fix your bike.

Here is a picture of the bike I brought with me. I found it by the dumpster of my apartment building a few years ago and have been wanting to fix it up but never got around to it. It's an old Panasonic. Tonight I got some new tires for it, but then learned that not only is the rear of the frame out of alignment, but it's also too large for me. I'm still going to fix it up and then donate it to the Bike Works, so it's definitely something I'm making, sort of. Now I just need to find a bike for myself!
