Sexy Librarian Clutch in Silver and Black Lace

Coming back soon to etsy...I had this cute little purse on consignment at the People's Light and Theater Company, but sadly, it didn't sell. It will be going back on my etsy site tomorrow. I made it from a former prom dress!

Enjoy.

Zadkiel Large Feather Angel Wings

Oh, man. I am way behind on my postings this month, and it has nothing to do with not having new material. I have been insanely busy filling wonderful wing orders for Halloween.
This is a new pair of my large angel wings, which I have decided to call Zadkiel, after the angel of freedom, benevolence and mercy.
I made some design changes from my original large white angel wings, so now the frame is lighter and slimmer, and the pinion feathers are made from stiffened silk. So now it is light as a, well, feather. :)

The Light Within

Oh wow, it's been forever since I've posted here. I've been really busy working on stuff, just not so much actually finishing things! I did finish a bunch of new collages this past weekend though, and will have a whole big batch of new necklaces done soon!

A New Technique

Last week I was doing some photography research and found a technique called Through the Viewfinder. So I decided to try it myself. I love the results and I am now working on a series of images with what I have learned. The best thing about this technique is that it slows me down to really look and compose in the viewfinder.

New Lens

On Saturday I got a new lens for my digital camera. It is called the Composer from a company called Lensbaby. You can move the lens around to pin point the focus and the rest of the subject goes out of focus. I also ordered the macro filters. I can get as close as 2" to a subject. It has been addicting. I was unclogging my bathroom sink with Draino and saw the bubbles and of course grabbed my camera. I don't recommend getting so close to Draino, but I got some great images.

Swap-O-Rama-Rama halter and skirt

The five-year-old and I partied like crazy at Swap-O-Rama-Rama today. She dove into the swap piles and found a halter top and a lingerie camisole she liked. She hand-stitched a length of ribbon to the front hem of the halter at the Handmade Philly embroidery and applique table, and I adjusted the top to her size with a giant pleat in back secured by a sequined applique. I folded down the top of the camisole with a running stitch and threaded yellow grosgrain ribbon through it for a drawstring. Voila! A skirt. The kid added a couple of sashes and some bead trim worn as a necklace.

If I ruled the universe, this event would take place every week. *bliss*

Robot Costume!

My bandmates and I collaborated on this robot costume. See the tutorial we wrote, published in this month's Grid Magazine, p. 15 (and check out the publisher's note too, on p.3!).

Findings

I have been looking back through old negatives and found images that I totally forgot that I have taken. This is one of them, taken in New Orleans in 2001. I am looking forward to scanning the found images and using them on my website and in my mixed media work.
