Another BRAvo!

Jeanne inspired me to post the collaborative bra that my sister and I made for the BRAvo exhibit! Ours is more decorative than wearable. My sister first added all the flowers and ribbons, and then I added the beads and keys and clock parts. It is called "Strapless in the Garden of Time" and is dedicated to our aunt Nancy who died in 2006 of cancer.

Collaborative Book Project: Women's Caucus for Art

The Women's Caucus for Art organized a collaborative book project, pairing up local artists with high school students. The books will be on display at the Central Branch of the Library this fall. Here's a page from the book I'm working on with Jasmine.

New collaborative book project!

Here is the cover of a soon-to-be collaborative book I just sent to Joan Phillips (who also posts here)! She's sending me a book that I'll add to, and then we'll switch back and forth a few times, adding to each other's work.

You can see the rest of the pages from round 1 of the book I made on my site. I'll be documenting the process throughout to see how the pages evolve over time!

Accordion Book

This is an accordion book made for an upcoming collaborative project. The paper is the watercolor paper I picked up at the supply swap at Handmade Philly's Artbeat event last month. I keep meaning to get back into doing sewn bindings, but I keep making accordions since they are so perfect for collaborations. It's cool that images can continue from one page to another, and that you can continue onto the back side. It also holds up well to lots of collaged layers being added, since there is no binding it expands well.

I already started drawing in this book. It's an imaginary map drawing. I recently saw the Galileo exhibit at the Franklin Institute, which was so inspirational- all those fantastic old maps and navigation equipment!
